No, there are many important tax deadlines on the tax calendar to remember throughout the year to avoid the frustration of penalties and interest. The year is divided into four payment periods to understand which forms to file your income tax return and when to file it in the new tax season.

Tax Due Dates and Deadlines in 2019 and 2020
Tax Dues 2019

March 15, 2019

  • S-corporation or Partnership tax returns due
This is the deadline for submitting tax returns for corporations, corporations or partnerships. A copy of their Schedule K-1 must be provided by each partner or shareholder
Relevant Form:
  1. Form 1120-S – For S Corporation
  2. Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) – For Partnership
Request for Extension:
  1. Extended deadline: September 16, 2019
  2. Provide (Form 7004) the request to file a Tax return for a 6-month extension. Then file the return and by September 16 each partner or shareholder must submit a copy of their final Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) or (Form1120S).

April 15,2019

This is the deadline for filing tax returns for individuals and corporations. This requires you to pay estimated quarterly income taxes made in January, February and March 2019.
  • Individual tax returns due
If you want to submit personal tax returns, the deadline is April 15, 2019. According to IRS, you can file it by April 17 if you live in Massachusetts or Maine.

  • Household employers
Household employees who paid $ 2,100 or more in wages are required to file Schedule - H for reporting household employment taxes or Form 1040.

June 17, 2019

This is the deadline for the second quarter to file individual and corporate tax returns due for the fiscal year 2018. In this, you are required to pay estimated quarterly income taxes made in April and May 2019.

September 16, 2019

This is the third quarter for 2019 estimated quarterly tax payment for individual, Corporation, S corporation and Partnership.

This deadline only applies to those who availed 6 months of time extension. If you didn’t apply then see March 15 due date.

This due date only applies if you had requested 6-months extension of time to file the Tax return. If not, then check March 15.
Form:
  1. Schedule K-1 (Form 1120S) from each shareholder
  • Estimated Tax for Corporations
This is the deadline to Deposit 2019 third installment of estimated income tax.

November 12, 2019

Those employees who during October received $20 or more in tips should report to their employer
Form:
  1. Form 4070.

December 16, 2019

  • Estimated Tax for Corporations
This is the deadline to make fourth-quarter estimated tax payment of 2019 for corporations.

  1. Form 1120-W -- estimate tax for the year.

December 31, 2019

This is the final deadline for the 2019 tax year to make any tax moves. This deadline applies to you If you want to convert your old 401(k) or existing IRA into a Roth IRA

Set up a solo 401 (k)
Those who are self-employed, must file a fund to set up a solo 401 (k).

  1. March 15, 2019: This is the deadline for income tax for corporations and S-corporations.

Depend on your individual sales tax situation. Sellers can pay in intervals like monthly, quarterly, or annually and it differs to every state. States will assign sales tax filing due dates when you apply for sales tax permit.

Form 1099 due dates:
This form is required when you hire contractors, Form 1099-MISC goes to IRS and contractors, in some countries you also need an income report from contractors
  1. January 31, 2019: This is the due date to contractors to check and confirm the payments you made to them with their own records.
  2. February 28, 2019: This is the due date to the IRS to submit a form for each contractor.
Tax extension due dates:
If you wish to file a 6 or 4-month tax extension, you must file extension by April 15, 2019.
  1. October 15, 2019: This is going to be the final due date for your income tax filing if you had filed a tax extension by 15th of April,
  2. September 16, 2019: This is the final due date to file income tax for your corporation or S corporation if you filed an extension by March 15, 2019.
